Local Bars and Restaurants - There are over 20 restaurants in Mottaret, here are a couple of my personal favourites.
 
Le Chatelet area (250 metre walk)
 
Le Schuss Brasserie In the Hotel Mont Vallon, smart and elegant meals +33 (0) 479 00 4400
La Brizolee  Family atmosphere with great view of Mont Vallon and is a real suntrap. Extensive menu of fondues, raclette etc., with fantastic cheap takeaway pizzas. Opens at 07:30 on sat/sundays for Breaky +33 (0) 479 00 4670.
Le Rastro  Rustic pub with wood clad beams, music usually on Tuesdays, great place for apres ski and my "local" +33 (0) 4 79 00 41 51

Zig Zag Next door to Le Rastro, small and cosy inside, with quiet alcove at the back with darts board. Excellent steak and chips and a good value plat du jour.

 

Mottaret Centre (500 metre walk)

 

Pizzeria du Mottaret - First rate pizza and much more  +33 (0)4 79 00 40 50

L' Annexe - Contemporary Bar with UK sports on the telly, next door to Pizzeria
Le Grenier - Located above the Olympic terrace, serves good, no-nonsense French fare at reasonable prices, always a good plat du jour.
Le Privilège - Disco Bar that stays open late, Tuesdays are a big night.
Au Temps Perdu - My personal favourite. A family run cellar restaurant with a wide choice of crèpes and local specialities. the ravioli is fantastic! call+33 (0)4 79 00 36 34 and ask for the delightful Aurelie Lacoste who speaks perfect English

La Belle Savioe - A charming little restaurant for dinner with Savoyard specialities such as home-made Tartiflette, Raclette and choice of Fondues  +33 (0) 4 79 00 53 90.

 
Meribel Centre (10-15 minutes on Shuttle bus)
 
La Kouisena Great Traditional local Savoie dishes, best Tartiflette in the valley, worth booking
Chez Kiki is a Meribel Institiution and is THE place to go for steaks.
Le Plantin is a very nice high end restaurant on the road to La Tania just past Meribel Village. They have a special lunch service where they will take you to/from the piste on a husky dog sled, which although pricey is a fantastic memorable experience for all.

Couchevel Valley
 
La Soucoupe - top of Loze chair 1850, Two restaurants the lower floor cheap and cheerful coffee, hot dogs and frites. Upper floor very nice with open fire and steaks cooked to order
Le Bel Air - 1650 top of Ariondez, Fabulous views, moderate prices and great for a long lunch, you must book to get a table +33 (479) 08 00 93
La Bergerie - On the Bellecote piste in the 1850 area, medium priced nice food +33 (479) 08 24 70
La Petit Savoyard - In 1650 right of the bubble through the gap by the Hotel Golf. Cross the street, turn to 45 degrees Charming must book! +33 (4) 79 08 27 44
L'Arc-En-Ciel - At the base of Saulire cable car. A reasonable priced little family restaurant.
La Table De Mon Grand Pere. The very best place in La Praz for a good value meal.This restaurant is truly excellent. Be sure to reserve in good time as it gets completely full most days. Tel: 04 79 08 41 42
Kalico - On the left hand side of the piste just afteras you pass under the Main lift station. reasonable value food, there is also a sandwich shop next door which has cheap panninis with outside seating.
Au Pain D' Antan - inside the Forum complex there is a sandwich shop that overlooks the climbing wall, nice good value sandwiches and cakes with quite a few seats. All the  British Instructors hang out there...
 
Meribel Valley
 
Adray Télébar - (next to the bottom of the Adret chair) has a superb sun terrace, top-class food and service and a traditional salon complete with wood burner and antiques. Get the veal with mushrooms, fantastic..must book +33 47 908 6026
Chalet de Tougniat - top of the Combes chair, off the beaten track, a lovely, peaceful, attractive mountain restaurant with large terrace, choice of self service or full restaurant +33 (0)479 00 45 11
LDV - Lodge du Village in Meribel village at the bottom of the Golf chair. Very nice Italian food and good apres ski.
Les Castors - at the foot of the Truite run is an old favourite, try the pasta in copper pan +33 (0)479 08 52 79. There is also a very good cheap takeaway sandwich bar next door.
Le Crêtes- Delightful little place in Chaudanne: Lovely coffee and the best "sausages in white wine"  in the whole valley. Reserve for lunch. It's very busy. Tel 06 09 40 51 04.
Le Roc Tania - at the top of the Loze chair, lovely slightly up market restaurant with good food, incredible views from the fabulous sun terrace and an interesting launch pad for para gliders +33 (4) 79 08 32 34

Le Rond Point - Rhodos Bubble, good for pasta and burgers, Is a bit like being in Surrey but if you are up for Apres will get very lively and usually has live bands

Val Thorens Valley

 

La Chaumiere - VT centre area 30m past the tourist office. great value food,  recommended by French locals. 04 79 00 01 13

Bar la Marine - Cascades chairlift, Set high on the piste with wonderful views, excellent food.  04 79 00 03 12

L'Oxalys -  Just awarded a Michelin star but same prices, hurry get in quick before they change anything.

La Montagnard - This restaurant is half way down the draglift on the far right side in St. Martin and set among a row of old houses. Fabulous food with a wonderful ancient interior, you must book 04 79 01 08 40.

La Voute - In the square opposite the church of St. Martin. Fabulous food. 04 79 08 91 48.

Grand Luc - At the base of the Grand Luc Chair in Les Menuires, a new restaraunt with a great plat du jour.

Le Ferme De Reberty - Nice good value mountain stop in Les Menuires just below the base of the Mt. de la Chambre chair.
